Unitron Hearing Introduces WiFi Mic System
Advanced wireless technology helps to listen to speech from both sides
Kitchener, ONTARIO -- Unitron Hearing, a manufacturer of easy-to-use digital hearing solutions, introduced today WiFi Mic, a new, innovative digital system that uses advanced wireless technology to address the specific concerns of asymmetrical hearing loss, with the most desirable digital features and options to ensure high client satisfaction.
The newest addition to Unitron Hearing’s digital accessories, WiFi Mic, is a flexible hearing solution offering the added benefits and features of advanced digital hearing instruments. Available as either a Digital Wireless CROS or Digital Wireless BiCROS, the system solves the challenges of asymmetrical hearing loss by transmitting sounds originating on the side of the unaidable ear to the other hearing ear. Even clients with a hearing loss can benefit from WiFi Mic, which amplifies and transmits speech and other desirable sounds to the working ear.
Using an advanced, wireless microphone and receiver, WiFi Mic Digital Wireless CROS employs Contralateral Routing of Signal. Sounds are processed and transmitted using radio frequency from a wireless microphone on the nonhearing ear to a wireless receiver on the hearing ear. In the case of WiFi Mic Digital Wireless BiCROS or Bilateral Contralateral Routing of Signal, sounds are processed and transmitted using radio frequency from a wireless microphone on the nonhearing ear to a wireless receiver on the hearing ear. The wireless receiver communicates to the hearing aid, which amplifies the sounds to compensate for the hearing loss.
WiFi Mic responds to the need for a more discreet, streamlined solution that can accommodate different listening needs. Traditional wired systems can be cumbersome and confining. With WiFi Mic, remote microphones mean no wires and a more discreet solution. For clients with bilateral hearing loss, WiFi Mic lets them choose when they want to engage BiCROS and when they require the added benefits of noise reduction, directional microphones or feedback management.
“Over seven million North Americans experience unilateral hearing loss,” commented Michael Jones, President and CEO. “This poses great listening challenges when most of our daily situations demand that we hear equally on both sides. Unitron Hearing is very excited to offer this wireless system as a practical solution to address this unique need.”
Unifit™ for WiFi Mic offers support resources ensuring an accurate, customized fit. Animated fitting-friendly resources address common concerns and questions and Unifit’s intuitive interface makes selection and customization easier.
WiFi Mic will be available in North America for both the Liaison™ and Unison™ product families.
